As I lay in the sand waiting for some action, this Least Tern chick was far more inclined to get a little shuteye. Every once in a while, the wind would blow the adult's feathers and give me a small window of opportunity to see and photograph the chick's head. I personally find this to be a peaceful scene. Every time I see it, it brings back fond memories.

Hi Marina, you planned the shot well, and score a perfect 10 for timing. Great perspective looking 'straight into' the parent, and I really like the space above the terns. Certainly an opportunity well used.

    Hello Marina!

What a beauty! A lovely tender moment captured beautifully. Love the crop and the colours are fantastic! Great detail in the feathers. At first I was going to ask you whether you could make the mom's eye more visible, but on second thought, this is all about the little one and the viewer's eye is drawn to the chick rather than the mother. Stunning image, well planned and processed, congratulations!

    Warmest regards,

The extra space on top is perfect for a magazine cover. If I was printing this I would crop a bunch from the top to zoom in on the chick and parent.
I really like the unusual point of view or perspective of this image.
The image is so wonderful once you explain what we are seeing- I have to confess that I didn't understand what I was seeing at first.
This is one of the rare times a butt shot works!

I reckon that's a great image. The composition works, the colours are pleasing, and it captures an interesting moment in time.

Lovely image Marina. I agree this is a very peaceful image.
It took me a second or two to spot the chick. A very interesting image.

I like this shot but have to admit it took me a few seconds to notice the chick under the wing, which is very cool. Maybe a little tighter crop to draw us into the chick. Love the blue in the BG and the mother looking off into the distance. Well done Marina.

Adorable. Took me a moment to find the essence of the image, which is why I like it so much. It's different and well seen. Certainly many options with regard to composition here, but I love it as is.

How cute!! This would go very well with your owl and chick image form earlier. I like the comp and extra space up there.

Your vision and execution with this image is excellent. Love the comp and techs.
The cozily ensconced chick is just way too cute! Terrific work, Marina.
