Sea otter asleep on the beach. It's unusual to find otters on the beach. This was one of a group. I was careful to stay well back, and none of them paid any attention to me.

Hi Bill - It is unusual to see otters on the beach. Looks like there may not have been much available light judging by the slow ss. I think for an image like this to really work you needed much more dof which may have been difficult to obtain because you would have needed to crank up the ISO, not something I like doing with the 7D. I also would have liked this a little wider, maybe without the tc. Do you have any of the whole body or group of otters?

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hi Bill - Sorry, this image does not really work for me as presented. I agree with Rachel on either more DOF or wider crop or possibly both. I think it was a nice scene to come across but the image does not portray the story IMHO.

Thanks for the comments. Here's a much looser crop on another otter on the same beach. The day was quite cloudy.

Hi Billy, just a gentle reminder, you are only allowed one image per posting in a Critique Forum unless it relates directly to the OP.

    Thanks

Just needs a little more DOF on the OP, neat shot on the beach. Can't recall ever seeing one out of water.

Hard one to work on. Usually need the eye to be in focus but since the eye's closed, makes sense that you focused on nose. However, I find my eye searching for the otter's eye and it's not there. Not really working for me. Sorry.
