Taken last April at Fort DeSoto.
1DX, 600mm II
ISO 800
F 8.0 @ 1/3200
Taken at 9:01 AM. Light starting to get a bit harsh.
PP: In DPP had to reduce exposure by .30 to save the whites and slide the highlights slider to -2. Crop by 25- 30% (so 70-75% FF) and rotated, NR to BG, levels, increased saturation by +4, cloned out a fly in the air by leg and one little black blob in water on the right. DE at 4% on bird then USM to JPEG.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,

Hi Gail, super pose with the raised leg, and love that we have a great view of the foot just above the water. I like the angled head concentrating on something in the water, and overall the heron is nice and sharp. Good pp work on saving the whites. Well captured.
Lovely image, Gail. The IQ and details on the heron is awesome. I agree with Stuart on the pose and the foot in the air. Nice clean background showing the heron off beautifully.
