    Barred Owl - Tamrack, Minnesota, USA - September

    This Barred Owl started hooting outside a friends house so we grabbed equipment and shot from just off his porch.

    10D, 500, 1/100 sec; f/5.6; ISO 400, Red eye removed in PS.

    Hi,

    I like the cute expression and the sharp bird. However there's something that looks a bit un-natural to me. I assume you used flash, as you mentioned red-eye , so perhaps darkening the bird or, in retrospect, turning down the flash, would have been nice. Also, I would prefer removing the oof yellowish leaf at bottom left and the 2 bright spots at bottom right.

    Great pose and expression. I would try toning down the highlights on the bird, and some NR on the background.

    I like the pose and exposure. it looks good to me. BG has some noise that can be removed in post
