    Default Return to Summer

Now that it is fall and things are slowing down a bit in terms of subject matter for my avian images, I'm looking at some files from the summer. This was taken on 7/16 on Long Island when the junenile common terns were honing their flying and fishing skills. I like his wet face.

Very nice, Grace. It's sharp, with great wing positions and eye contact. And I too like the wet face. It seems to me though that there is a lot of negative space. I might crop it more tightly, or even consider a vertical crop.

Super sharpness, exposure, and background, Grace. I like that wet face too. I could see taking a bit off the bottom and left. It definitely is an image that makes me wistful for summer too.

Hi Grace, love the light in this, which in turn has brought out the detail and colours nicely. Yes to being sharp, and I do like the semi banking pose, and against a sweeeet BG. Im fine with the space you have given the juvie.

I like the idea of cropping a little tighter...but not too much needed. Super IQ on the tern and I love the green band along the top of the frame.

Lovely light, BG, water on the head and pose. I would make it a little tigher left and bottom.

Nice flight image, Grace. I like the ample room around the bird, the green at the top and the water on the face.

thanks everyone. This is a large crop and I'm not loving the iq when I crop tighter. Appreciate your insights.

    Grace,

I'm OK with this crop, although I'm sure I would like to see something just a bit tighter (maybe just a bit off the bottom?). The green strip on the top gives you a lot more perspective than if it weren't there.

Tack sharp, as usual. I also enjoy the reddish brown on the top of the wings, just to add that bit of punch.

Great looking shot Grace. I like the overall colors and details and the eye contact is perfect. I agree about a little tighter but still very nice as presented. Well done.
