Here is an unconventional crop. I welcome your comments. There is another rock in the left part of the frame that I did not care for, so I gave this a try.

    Grace,

The light in this image is awesome, and you took advantage of it. I would usually suggest toning down the bright portions in the bg, but I don't think it detracts in this case.

I can see why you included the entire rock, and I only wish he was looking toward the right to balance the image just a bit better.

very nice, before reading I thought it was a log not a rock.
that being said I would try cropping just a bit off the bottom of the rock so that it looks more like a rock and those few bright spots on the front of the rock will get lessened.

the bird is a beauty and I like everything else about the image.

I like this but think it would work better as a vertical.
Love the visible feet on that green vegetation and of course the light and IQ are top notch.
Do you have one with him looking to his left?

Hi Grace - I am fine with the crop. The light and IQ is just amazing. I think the rock with the green vegetation adds to the image, as well as the nice background. I agree on having the bird looking into space into the image; either compose bird to the LHS and remove the rock you mentioned, or alternate HA. All the rest just great.

Fantastic light, great looking perch and very nice overall, Grace. I'm not sure, will have to look at it a few more times to see if I like the comp.

    Grace,
Your unconventional crop definitely looks superb, since you have got wonderful color backdrop, interesting perch with green vegetation and wonderful low shooting angle.
Love the beautiful lights, colors , especially blues in the BG, catch light in beautiful eye and great IQ.

    Regards,
    Satish.

    Grace:

Unconventional crop as mentioned, does grow on one a bit, would like to see a version with more on left if the rock there can be removed.

I like the skirt of water below, and not having the rock cut by the frame edge.

    Sharpness, colors, very nice,

    Cheers
