Just a little avian photography humor this evening. This heron had just dropped the crab and the crab assumed this threatening posture which worked as the bird moved on and the crab lived another day.

    Terrific heron shot Grace.
The crab story adds a bit to my understanding of the photo, but you won't always be there to tell the story and so the 2 crab claws will just be something that we have to ponder on. No problem though as the heron stands on its own as a great shot.
Wonderful light, gorgeous colours, great exposure, great background.

Beautiful light and composition, wonderful detail, the juxtaposition of the crab and heron is excellent.

Excellent image Grace! I think the crab is shooting the Heron the finger times two so an alternate title might be flipping the bird. I like the composition, HA, IQ and details.

Wonderful shot, Grace. The light and pose of the night-heron makes that a fine image on its own right; the crab "fingers" put it over the top.

Hi Grace, great low shooting angle, and once again, captured in soft light. Good DOF in the overall image, love the colours in the BG, and the crab stands out nicely against the the darker seaweed. An opportunity well used.

Hysterical title, I love it. Fantastic how the heron pops against that dark background, and the crab claws too. Really neat image!

I like the "guns up", but love the separation from the background.
