Hi Randy - can you please post your techs and equipment used? Also, what if anything was done in pp. Thanks, it helps with the critique process and for making suggestions on how to improve in the field.

    Thanks,
    Rachel

This image could benefit from a boost in the mid tones to bring out definition in the fur texture and also a round or two of sharpening. Looks a little flat as posted and maybe too much shadow boosted in processing?

Do you have more room on the LHS? Looks a little bottom left hand side heavy.

Sweet close up of these two

Randy, I love bison and they make great subjects.
With these 2 I feel you are caught between 2 options: either to zoom out a bit to give a bit more background and context to the picture or to zoom right in and concentrate on the heads and eyes so that we really feel that eye contact.
I also think that with a bit more post processing you could add some more sparkle to the image. The areas around the eyes and noses seem a bit dull where normally I would expect to see a bit of moisture creating some highlights.

Hi Randy - please note that image size is limited to 1200 px horizontally and 900 px vertical. Nice view of the 2 bisons. I also felt it was a bit thin. I applied a medium contrast curves adjustment selectively to the bison and then some additional midtone contrast. I added 3 points of black to both the blacks and neutrals in selective color and finally I dropped the brightness of everything except the bison to give them a bit more pop. WDYT?

    TFS,
    Rachel

P.S. It can still use some more sharpening too which I did not add.

Very good repost. I really like the composition of the two bisons at angles to each other and the feeling of intimateness created. Rachel's repost really brings up the color and details of the fur as well as that nice catch light in the eye of the right bison. The bright spots of burs stuck to the heavy hair adds interest.
