From earlier in the summer, got this shot one evening (around 8:30 pm) as I shadowed a group of four bucks grazing their way across this open field. Something had caught their attention in the trees on the other side (I never got to see what it was) and I concentrated on this one as he was somewhat separated from the other three. 5DMKII, 400DO, f4.5, 1/40s, ISO 3200, monopod, cropped a touch all around.
Hi Steve, Nice composition, good focus, nice rack, sharp or the SS. I'd wish to see more finer details on the deer, but may be ths is the limitation of the 5D2 at ISO-3200. Loi
A very lovely image in beautiful western habitat and evening light. I especially like how the light highlights the fuzzy antlers! I would consider cropping up from the bottom to just below the base of the yucca.
Hi Steve - nice angled pose and sharpness (especially for the ss). I like the habitat and going vertical was the right choice. Nancy's crop suggestion is a good one.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Debated about the crop, like the suggestion. Regarding the sharpness, I pulled back on the sharpening for this version. Wanted to keep it softer than what I had originally. Can easily get more detail out of the deer.
Always nice to see your work, Steve. Lovely pose and soft light (with a kind of glow). Good call on the portrait orientation!
Looking forward to more of your work as you find time to post.
