Default Lilac Breasted Roller (Coracias caudata)

This was shot in the Serengeti.
cropped to vertical from a horizontal original, so I guess that would be about a 50% crop.

PP in Nikon Capture. some sharpening and some taming of highlights.

Hi Martin, its always great to capture a LBR against a foliage BG, rather than against the sky, as they always seem to perch on top of a tree. The vertical comp works well with the pose, and the colours are spot on. Easy to oversaturate the colours too. I would run some NR on the BG.

Sweet portrait of this roller, Martin. I like that foliage background a lot too, it does seem different to the usual backgrounds you see with them. I agree with Stuart that BG does need a bit of noise reduction. Your IQ, details, and colors look great.

I have to agree with the NR on the BG.
    Great light.
I would like a bit more breathing room on the right and a bit even more on the bottom to create a more "vertical" feel,
    Gail

Hi Martin - the IQ and pp on this looks really good with nice colors and creamy bg. I agree on the additional NR.

Very nice LBR against a green BG, good light, great details and sharpness. The noise in the BG already mentioned. I would suggest adding just a little bit more mid tone contrast. Loi
