hi lance, love the capture!! i took the liberty of working on your pic. hope you dont mind. only thing i did was go into the face and open up the shadows just a bit and applied a very slight sharpening to the entire bird. hope you like it.

btw, do you guys have an opening at your work? i need a job with you. if that's what you do on your way to work, it must be fantastic:D

btw, i dont know if it's the D3, but working on the small jpeg here was a breeze. very easy. seemed to be a lot of info. or the fact that the bird was properly exposed and it just made it that much easier.

Hi Harold - dont mind at all - always looking for ways to improve - so many thanks.

Its not so much the work, but a small town only 15,000 people and just ride my pushbike to work and live right on the river - its only like 10 minutes to work on the bike - always takes me 2 hours though :) I seem to find plenty of reasons to stop along the way.

    Thanks

Very nice composition and image Lance,
I like Harold's tweaking of the eye and shadow area. Great capture in a beautifull surrounding... Congrats...All the best to you...:D

I think Harold's repost is a significant improvement. Is it possible that the original image is somewhat underexposed because of the dominance of the white areas of the bird?
    Terrific composition, sharpness.

I hope my question is not inappropriate, but what kind of cormorant is that? Is it a first year double crested? Beautiful bird.

I also like the re-post very much !!!

Lance do not hesitate to increase the ISO You will have excellent results at 1600. I go much higher at times !!! For 800 I don't even bother to use NoiseNinja with the D3

...............go that bird on the way to work ............... that will be another twenty lashes !!!:D:D:)
