    Default 500 4.5 sigma (1990) on NEX ???

    Hi all!
I have lurked here for a good while, but now I have a question the internet has not been able to answer.

I have a chance at a sigma 500mm f4.5 apo from the year 1990. it is for CANON EF mount, BUT it is for film cameras only- thus it is VERY cheap and supposedly useless. There are adapters for EF to NEX that supposedly will control canon's electronically controlled aperture, but here's the stump. will these adapters work with a "film only" AF lens? I do not care abour AF working, as the NEX focus peaking is fabulous... but that darn aperture needs to work. I may just need to buy the lens and a adapter and see, cause I am dying to see if it works.

So yeah I hope I can figure this out!!

Never heard of a film only lens when digital cameras first came out all the lenses where film only, if it's a EF lens and not their older mount then I do not see an issue

It should work. I have an 800 Nikkor that I use on my NEX-7 and 5DIII. The NEX line is awesome. The only inconvenience is lack of AF. Even if it's the older mount there are E-mount adapters and they don't need corrective optics like an FD on an EF body does.
