I like this theme and image type, so here is another.

early morning sun is the only light, no flash.

cropped, removed some white Ick off partial Lilly pad upper left corner area in already darker zone.
burned some petals down on lower left flower, just the tips.

    taken handheld with Nikon P510
Macro mode, maybe a foot away

Very nice image, well composed. I would try to bring out just a bit more detail to the left side of the image. Well done

The flower is lovely. Agree with Paul about lightening up the left side of the image in order to reveal more detail. The black stems at the base are a bit distracting. Would a crop to the base of the flower remove too much of the shadow element? Would be great if the tips of the right sided petals were included in the frame.

I like the glowing aspect to the main lotus and the soft, subtle highlights on the bkgd lotus. I do find the contrast between the very dark left side and the very bright right side to be to overly stark. If you have more of the image on the right side, you could experiment cropping in from the left and adding to the right. The rising sun can produce tricky brights & darks.

Beautiful colors, Linz. I love the glowing light on the main flower. I agree with Nancy on cropping from the left and adding to the right.

Thanks for all the input, I agree with all of it. There is a lot to play with on this image.

dont have much room on the right past the petals, they are complete in the original, just more green Lilly pads that picked up the light.

so for this theme I wanted all the light focused on the flower so probably cropped in a little too close for comfort.

i agree on the stems in any other category, but for this Chiaroscuro I like the harsh contrast on the stems.

however If I use this image for any other purpose I love all of your suggestions, most helpful, thank you thank you

Lovely image, Linz. Perfect for the theme. I do like the dark to light and don't find it too stark. A square crop, with a little off from the left, might be interesting, too.
