    This is an escaped bird. It has been living in the open in a few years. It is just as shy as the other ducks . Data : 1,4 converter ISO400 , F5,6 , 1/160

    Geir:

    Mandarins are amazing birds.

    Excellent detail in the cheek feathers.

    The large specular reflections are distracting and I would try to tone those down.

    Perhaps try to tease out a bit more of the catchlight to give the eye a bit more spark.

    THe bird itself is underexposed, meter thrown off by the bright background.

    Hope to see one of these fellows again in person one day!

    Good critique by Randy. If at all possible some fill-flash would have done wonders here. Good details, and I like the squarish crop you chose here.
