Cool shot. Like Markus' previous post of the marmots, there's a nice symmetry between the two. Having the flipper visible makes a big difference as does being able to see the whites (red) in the eyes.
Hi Rachel, perfect exposure, good light, sharpness. The eye of contact no the whiskers and tusk are fantastic. Great details on the bodies. Your use of the 2X is excellent. Many folks still "refuse" to consider the 2X because of their perceived lack of IQ. They should look at this image. Loi
Thanks very much Steve, Sanjeev and Loi. For me also, the flipper makes the shot. Loi - I think generally the 2x III has a good reputation and is not considered an IQ killer as much as its predecessors.
Great image Rachel, lovely detail and well exposed. I do feel the image could do with a little CCW rotation to level the water, crop wise you may look at losing about half off the bottom and about a third off the top, this is just for personal taste but give it a go you may like it, otherwise lovely image!
Hi Rachel,
nice one with the intimate pose of the these big guys looking kind of romantic.
Like the colors and the tones bout would try to get more detail from the darker mid tones and lighten the eye of the left animal. Agree about image rotation with Brendon.
Thanks Brendon and Andreas - I agree on the rotation and can't believe I didn't notice it. Brendon - I prefer this comp/crop to the one you suggest but thanks for the suggestion. Andreas - I'll take a look at the suggested tweaks.
Gorgeous. Like two old pals. Would agree with trying to get more out of the details, and I think you could push the whites/highlights a tiny bit to get more out of the tusks and eyes.
