    Default Pink house

This old house is on the road to Plum Island. It was recently bought by the wildlife refuge and am sure it will shortly be torn down. It looks to be in better shape in this photo than in real life. :)

Taken as a 3 bracket hdr (photomatix), adjusted in PS and then I applied an oil paint filter from SnapArt.

Nothing like a little "paint" to fix up an old house! Looks like you did a good job of it. I love old buildings like this and am glad you preserved it. It has a very pleasing color palette and composition.

The oil paint effect and the bright colors are perfect for an "old house"! The oil paint has added a great texture effect, especially in the sky and grasses.

Very pastoral scene, I love all the bright colours, and the "Oil Paint" from Snap Art looks great.

This really is a neat painting, being a big fan of painting programs, where can I get this software. Love the color and brush strokes in this image, very believable. Well done

Very lovely image, Allan! Love the colors, and the painting effect is gorgeous. I especially like how the sky looks with all the brushstrokes. I would add a little more room to the right if you have it, but that's minor. Well done!

    Thanks for the comments.

Christopher, I had more room on the right but cropped it as I did not want the house to be dead centered.

Love it, great painting effect and nice colors. I just bought Snap Art today! I used it on a commissioned portrait of a dog in 2 versions and really like it. I got the whole bundle since I wanted the new Exposure 5, it is very awesome! I used it before Snap Art to get the look or "style" I wanted which looked great by itself before painting.

Lovely painterly effects, and I love the colors. I especially like the brush strokes in the sky. Nice work with the texture of the house, too.

    Alan,

Greetings. I've looked at your image several times trying to figure out why it is so successful. I think the simple geometric design of the house, stacked boxes with interposed pyramids is well balanced by the natural vegetation. The beautiful color and painterly effect add to the contrast and the diagonal of the rooftop (subtly propelled by the brush strokes) strengthens the composition. Thanks for posting. Good Show!

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

By the way, this image also has an iconic reference to those familiar with Montessori educational materials. The specific material is called the pink tower... (Google "pink tower" and you'll see it).
