Another one from my Raven shots.
    About 40-50% crop of original.

EOS 1DX, EF 4/600L IS II, EF 1.4x III, handheld.
    ISO 2000, 1/2000, f8.

Some processing for colors, contrast, noise, etc in LR 5.

Very nice detail Markus. ISO 2000 looks great; how are you liking the 1Dx? I'm seeing a bit of a bluish cast, and I'd like to see the blacks a little darker. Something like this.
Upcoming Workshops: Bosque del Apache 2019, Ecuador 2020 (details coming soon)

Hi Doug, thanks for the repost. The blakcs lock great in your version. I already did some work on the blacks in LR, should have done more :-)
Did you do the repost in LR or PS?

About the 1DX: After the initial problems with a broken one I got a new one from my dealer. Now everything works fine. The camera is amazing. Fantastic image quality, very good at high ISO (even 12800 would be usable with some subjects and some LR work). The camera is a joy to use, very good menus and user interface. The AF is a different world compared to my 7D (which has a pretty good AF itself). The 12fps are very welcome.
The only thing where the 1DX could be a bit better is dynamic range but with Raw and LR it is amazing what you can get out of a single file.

The 1DX works great for birds in flight with the 4/600 II, either alone or with the 1.4x III. I have not yet tested the 2x III for birds in flight but for static subjects, the image quality of the 2x III is amazing. I also need to test the EF 4/200-400L IS 1.4x for birds in flight. So far only for slow moving subjects. The lens itself is simply spectacular.

    Markus,

I like the top-view of this guy, as you were able to capture some nice detail in the top feathers. Just a tad more sharpening on the head might go a long way.

As for the color cast, one thing I like to do is to use the TAT (targeted adjustment tool) in the HSL panel in LR. I place it over an area that I know should be black (or white, or any tone of neutral for that matter), and I move it up and down. As I do that, any color cast becomes very obvious and I'm then able to remove it very quickly.

Really sweet. Love the topside view, giving the sense of elevation...being up in the sky with the bird. Perfect head angle. Exposure is spot on. The repost looks even better.

Cool! I like the feather details along the back and rump. Neat gliding pose with a slight head twist towards us. Good repost from Doug.

Excellent shot, Markus. The picture taking and PP are both excellent.
