This is far and away the best KF photo I have ever seen......
Maybe a touch off the bottom, but that is just subjective.
Really nice soft light. I have never heard of attracting them with calls, were you in a blind?

Kingfishers do respond to calls but not in the way we want them too. They take off screaming :-) Yes, I was in a blind at dark and waited for the bird to come in.

Patience and getting to know the habits of your subject rewards you with an image like this one. Not much I can say about this other than it's one of the best Kingfisher images I've seen. Beautiful background, great detail and I love the perch.

    Alan,

Love the selection of the perch, especially the green in the branches. The bg compliments all of the colors in the fg perfectly. Well thought out!

And of course, the detail here is to die for. Not much more you can ask for!

What a complimentary background for this lovely lady! Your belted kingfisher images are the benchmarks by which all others are measured imo. Do you have your submerged kiddy pool with bait fish working on this one?

I do Shawn, but it was not needed as the bird took my perch anyway. Thanks for the kind words.

Wow, what a perfectly chosen BG-- it is such a perfect match for the bird's colors. I can't stop looking at this.

This is the quintessential BEKI shot in all regards. The best shot I have ever seen of this species so far, Alan.
