I found this guy, a baby Painted Turtle, in the middle of a trail. It was lucky I did not crush it as I was birding and had my sights set mostly upwards!! It lay motionless as I took its photograph...I then enticed it on a piece of bark and moved it safely off the path. This little fella's shell did not measure more than 1.5 inches across.
I like the color and the repetitive theme of him coming out of his shell and the sharply focused face coming out of the softer, OOF BG (hope that makes sense). Good on ya' for moving him safely out of the way too.

Hi Daniel,
As you know I'm not the biggest fan of shallow DOF............in this case it is a prime example of what is should look like when done correctly. I may blur the BG behind the turtle a little more.........but this is IMO outstanding!
