    Picture taken last year at Sunset dam within the Kruger National Park.
    Techs: Canon 7D | Canon 600mmMrkI 1/3200s @ f/4.0 | ISO 800 | EV+1 | Minimal crop | PP - Smart sharpen limited to subject only. Increased contrast, boosted blacks in LR.

    I love this. Both eyes really make the shot for me. Nice whites. I'd reduce the noise in the BG.

    What a super image, Hennie. That fish's eye makes it very special. You can't help but feel for the poor fish in its last moments! Great job on exposure, detail, and IQ. Sun looks like it was pretty high but you did great.

    Hi Hennie, great capture from you, and a great capture for the grey heron. Well timed to get the moment of the fish's eye before going down the hatch, and if this were mine, I would try and bring out the shadow of the fish inside the heron's bill. Sunset dam always produces something exciting. I was there recently with a dead hippo floating near the edge of the dam where you can park alongside the road, and of course, every croc in sunset dam was having a bit of the carcass.

    Very cool and dynamic photo.
    I might try a little work on both eyes, since that is the subject title.
    I would try to clean up the nitrating membrane by cloning out the membrane edges.

    Excellent close up with superb IQ. I like the eyes of both,very nice fine texture of fish, great details on heron,colors and composition.
