    Default Banking Black headed Heron

    This Heron had just taken off from his nest to fetch more nesting material. They take off and then circle the tree, before heading off, always in the same direction, to fetch nesting material. The light had just come over the trees, so captured in sweet light.

    What's not to like here Stuart! You nailed this one pretty good. There is one feather on the top wing that has some odd artifact on it (maybe just a play on light), no biggie but could be dealt with...

    Thanks Dan. Those feather markings are on the original, they look like creases. I could have neatened them up.

    Gorgeous heron and not one I've seen many images of, and certainly few this nice. The head angle/wing positioning/lighting are perfect imo.

    A bit late but had to say something when I opened up this image. Awesome!! One of your best images in a while. Love the feather detail and the pose. Very nice.
