Nice bird, good EXP, and sharp. Much too tight in the frame. BKGR looks mega-noisy... The eye looks a bit funky. Getting lower would have added intimacy.

    Norman,
This image is sharp and you picked a nice specimen with a great background.
IMO a looser crop would make this a stronger image.
I also noticed a good deal of noise in the background. Most times noise is introduced when an image is under-exposed and "brought up" in PS.
    Was this the case?

    Thanks for sharing, your neighbor,
    James

Agree with James More room all around and reducing the noise would make for a very appealing image !!!! The eye is an easy fix !!!

    HI Norm,

You did well with the low angle. Noise mentioned but I would also like to see a slightly more head angle. I'm sure if you go back to CS3 you can do a better processing! Keep trying.

I sent you an email but never got a reply.

    Take care!

Wonderful mating colors and excellent exposure in this image. I agree with all of the above.

Norman, Some good comments above. I am wondering if the noise may be coming from both perhaps compensation for the exposure in your post processing step (if that was done), in conjunction with the layer mode change (to luminosity). I find the eye and beak sharp, but the top of the head seems a tad soft for me and color saturation seems a little heavy handed but excellent background as Art and Jim noted.

I want to thank all of you for your input. I will upload the original untouched version. Again, I'm a newborn in photoshop, I have read & applied some technique from "Scott Kelby's 7-point System. All comments are welcome
