Default Greater Yellowlegs Surrounded By Greens...

    Attached Images Attached Images

I love these "flaming green" type backgrounds, so when this Greater Yellowlegs ventured in front of a patch of fresh green grasses I made sure not to miss the chance.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small CW rotation then crop for comp (about 80% FF), darkened pupil, lightened iris, added cyan to the yellows and greens in "Selective Color" to bring out the greens as I remember them. NR to the BG and FG.

You can never go wrong with Yellowlegs; they're so photogenic. To catch one with water and background like this is a gift, and you've taken full advantage. Great pose, HA, exposure. I wonder if a touch more NR on the BG is called for?

That's gorgeous Daniel. That green background spilling into the reflection of the water, just wonderful. The raised foot takes it from a static image to something with a little more "flavor".

It might be just me, but I want to rotate it just a slight bit CW, and I mean just a nudge. I took out a ruler and held it up to my screen and the waterline on the left side is just a tad bit higher than the right.

Stunning shot with fantastic light and colors. I like the low angle and the raised leg of the bird.

What an incredible BG! The water and BG foliage are seamless. (The bird isn't bad, either.) I'd love to see more of the reflection -- enough to have it fade out at the bottom of the frame so it's contained instead of cut into. Not always possible, though.

Miguel is right about the "wake" or whatever the term should be. It's ever so slight but I noticed it right away. Just slide an image up or down in the browser window to see "horizons" easily.

Terrific IQ and color. I think toning down the white in the reflection would look good.

Excellent shorebird image! The green water and background are very pleasing. Nice juvenile specimen. Excellent work once again!

Daniel, this is a "WOW" image for sure. The melding of the water into the greens of the grass really makes this shot standout. Of course, the techs for the bird are right on which is sometimes what we take for granted.
I also see the left side of the "water line" just a hair higher than the right. I think this would indicate a CCW rotation is needed though (not CW which would make that worse).

Great image. I like the raised feet of the bird and the eye contact. Great colors and nice clean BG due to low angle. TFS

Daniel, I love these "flaming" BG's also and this one is outstanding, the bird is near perfect, I think that the legs could be toned down just a notch. The rotation has been mentioned.

very nice pose and details, I like the low angle and BG. I'd consider darkening the pupil a bit. I like these guys a bit better when both legs are stretched/straight

    great work TFS
