    Default Begging Juvenile Bluejay

I have had little time for bird photography lately. This juvenile blue jay was begging for food even though the seed I put out was only two feet away! Nikon D800, 300 f2.8, 2X TC, tripod. 1/250, f6.3, ISO 1000. Adj. WB, exposure, cropped in ACR. Levels and USM in CS6.

A bunch of nice details here Jack.
Big in the frame for you, but nice overall and the wing stretch and the head turn and begging pose is good.
The head could be sharpened a tad more for me, the focus was just a tad in front I think.
The perch suits the bird well, I might just smooth the BG our a tad, it is your usual attractive colors.
Good to see you had some time again to show us your work!

Love it Jack. The calling pose, colors, detail and perch are all great. A nice bg too.

Nice bird, with good sharpness and light. The open beak is quite cool. I only wish the perch was not so dominant.

Super begging pose, and I love that you captured it calling too. Love the background and the details in the feathers. Seems just a little tight to me.

If you have a bit more room left and bottom that would be cool. Love the posture here with the open bill and semi-open wing. Nice perch and BG. These guys are notoriously crazy for shelled peanuts...just a little heads up for your next time with them

Hi Jack, I really liked the angled begging pose you have captured, and a great view of the eye too. The outstretched wing a bonus, and I could look at the various blues and grey's on this fellow for ages. Im fine with the comp as is.
