Have you ever looked behind you while photographing shorebirds in sweet light? This is what you may miss out on....

Amazingly every strand of grass was in the right spot, except for that one crossing the raised foot that I may revisit and eliminate.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/7.1, ISO 800, small crop for comp, some specks removed via spot removal tool, in LR4 slid the blacks slider all the way to the left to conceal faint highlights, and warmed the colour temperature to give the appealing orange that I had witnessed (turned out "peach" in-camera).

Beautiful image Daniel. I really like the water ripples, the raised foot, the reeds & the beautiful water color. I would leave the reed that crosses the foot. TFS.

I'm not usually a huge fan of silhouettes, but this one is an exception. Terrific in its simplicity which leads to alot of impact.

Daniel - the thumbnail just jumps out and the image itself is even more spectacular. Beautifully done.

Hi Daniel, Artie used the word 'simplicity' the other day and I think this just conveys this image extremely well. The colours work in total harmony, however I think I'm with Roman on the reed stalk if you feel comfortable about that edit? Reminds me of one of those silhouette cutouts.

    Something different, great.

Fantastic shot Daniel. I am glad you had this chance and were able to pull out this beautiful image. I am fine with the grass blades between the legs but if you twist my arm I could see a version without them, very sweet in all counts.

I like it a lot as others have said. The only question I have is whether you selected the bird before making changes. It looks a bit too sharp around the edges????

I am not a big fan of silhouettes either but just love this one. The water ripples make this one special IMO

    Thanks for sharing
