Default African Wattled Lapwing with 200-400mm

It had just rained on one of the mornings during my recent trip to the Kruger National Park, so instead of going in early to the park, I walked around the large garden of the house we were staying in. This Wattled lapwing was quite excited with my presence, and was calling out. He was standing on the road, and due to the different levels, I could unfortunately not see the feet. If I had walked up any higher or closer, he would have flown away. You can still see a rain droplet on the end of the bill. What I like about this lens is the great bokeh it creates. The BG is as shot.

Very nice Stuart. What a cool bird and I love the colors of the face and the blue eye is beautiful. Nice calling pose and a great bokeh to the BG. Hard to get that same bokeh from your 100-400. I dont mind not seeing the feet. Great detail and exposure too. Nice one.

Great low POV but my favorite part is the visible spur.
Great BG as mentioned already and I do not mind not seeing the feet,

What an eye popping image, Stuart. Love the spur, the bg, the calling pose, everything. Feet (or lack thereof) do not matter at all here to me.

Nice pose, angle, details, and environment. I'm also fine not seeing the feet.

Excellent of calling Lapwing. Love nice calling pose, great details, nice colors, low angle, BG and composition.
I like the red and yellows.

Just a cool looking bird! Subject animation trumps any lack of foreground definition issue here imo. Sharpness, exposure, head angle...it's all good here.

Lovely image Stu, punchy, vibrant colours, good detail & clarity, nice POV. Like you, I just wished for the feet to be visible.
