I have tried all week to come up with something that would look like scratch art, I have tried bears, gorillas, chimps, mandrills, groundhogs...etc.
Nothing seemed to work. They all looked great large size but the moment I reduced them for BPN, they lost their pizazz.
Here is an image that works, or at least I think so.
It is an image of a Bull Muskox taken in Alaska on a recent trip, they are gentle but fiercely guard their young. They shouldn't be approached and only photographed from a safe distance.
They can run faster than humans.
I used Topaz to create a line drawing, then inverted it to make the background black and the lines white. Then added selected colors from the original, including the eyes.
Off to bed now, must be up and be ready at 5am, off to Presqu'ile Park for migrants
Well done, Paul. I like the depth and texture of the muskox combined with the soft colors of the background. I do know what you mean about trying different photos to make them work. I tried
lots of wildlife images before I gave up and went with the pet portrait, so I applaud your efforts and wonderful result.
Works well for me Paul! You have shown us yet another technique for recreating the scratch art look. I like the look of the animal a lot, and the bits of color and background make it even more interesting. Well done!

I like that you chose this unusual animal. Impressive horns. Interesting hair-style. :-) I wish there were a little more detail so I could see the eyes.
