We had not seen one of these in our backyard for about 2 years and was happy at his return. He was waiting in a tree next to our jelly feeder. I spent a good deal of time waiting for just the right pose and I think I got it. Hope you like it as much as I do. All thoughts are welcome. Shooting data as follows: Nikon D4 2013:08:26 19:16:14

Nice and sharp, well exposed, good BG, nice colors. The bird is a little big in the frame though. Loi

Nice and sharp on the head and face and a neat pose as well. I have to agree about tight in the frame (mostly on the left side) so perhaps you can add the canvas if you have it?

Very nice posing. Such a beautiful bird. I would also add a bit of canvas.

Great sharpness on the head and detail in the darks. Love the foliage and perch -- would like to see more of it (and a little more on the left) if the rest is this good!

    Wheeler,

Must have been a treat when you saw this guy come in. Nicely exposed, good background, nice details and colors. Will have to agree with comments above, it's a bit tight in the frame. Just a bit of room all around if you have it.

Superb image. Very nice pose, beautiful colors, nice details too.
    Another vote for loose crop.

Beautiful bird, great IQ, looks like you made the most of a busy perch. Agree with others about adding a little room all around.

Excellent shot of a bird I've always wanted to see. The techs are great and the pose is just right. Independent of the comp that's been noted I think I'd like to see a version with the one leaf that intersects the bird removed.

    Well done!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts regarding my oriole. I have reposted with a little more room around the edges. What do you think? Is it improved?

Much more to my liking -- the leaves are really a very pleasant complement to a lovely bird.

Superb image, made better in the repost by giving the bird more room. You created a beauty here, Wheeler.
