    Default Skimmer and Needle Fish

The Skimmer chicks have finally made an appearance , which makes for a very active colony. Much feeding behavior going on.
They were a long time coming.

Well done. Sharp with a good EXP. Just once I'd like to see them carrying a needlefish that was not covered with sand....

Lovely and sharp capture! I like the detail in the darks in the head that allows the eye to show.

Maybe the sand helps with the digestion? I remember my grandfather used to feed the chickens ground up oyster shells.

The adult skimmers always have a hard time locating their chicks so they land, drop the large needlefish onto the sand, pick them up, and resume their search in flight. Smaller fish like striped killifish are always fed without being dropped and without any sand on them.

Fantastic, Joe. The bits of blood on the bird's throat add interest. Love that wing position.

A beauty, Joe. You got it all on this one: great wing position and flight angle, lovely BG, and good eye contact from the needlefish. Well done!

A "wow" image imo. Love the light quality, sharpness, exposure work, prey item...awesome...The overall composition is really pleasing.

Super shot Joe, with a nice BG and a few blades of grass to set the environmental stage. I love shooting these guys. Lots of fun.
