    Default Disney Hall in B/W

I'm amazed at how many B/W interpretations can be done of this scene, which was basically a monochrome original of low contrast. (The low contrast is also somewhat surprising as it was at 11 am on a clear-for-LA day.)

Here's the one I've finally settled on - for now....

    C&C always welcome.

Hi, Diane, although I like this in b&w I think I prefer the color version. I think having the yellow sky in the color image makes the image more abstract than the b&w where you can definitely tell the middle part is sky and clouds.

Diane, I prefer the original color image. This B&W has a rather narrow tonal range. I like the composition.

Thanks for the comments! So many ways to go with this image, and I change my mind every time I look at it. You're right, Gary, it could use more punch. The original was SO flat it's hard to believe.

I agree with the comments above. This image was stunning in color. But, maybe with more contrast or range of tones this will also be super.

Well, I'm swimming upstream tonight because I like the image as presented. In my mind, the reduced tonal range makes a nice background for the interesting lines, patterns, and textures of the image. I can see it many ways though, as you mentioned.

Thanks, everyone! I've processed several images from this series and each one comes out different, both with trying to replicate the same color treatment color treatment and when processed in B/W. Some of the B/Ws are very spartan, some meatier -- depending to some extent on the original and also on my whim of the moment.

The hall will be back on my agenda next time we visit the kids!

Dizzying, I love this on so many levels. I like the sharp soft /contrast in the buildings, and between the buildings and the clouds. But most of all I love all those organic shapes on the building on the right. Beautifully done.

Brilliant, Diane. I really like everything about this one. The range of values, composition, as well as the POV make this a winner for me. Beautiful work.
