I used split toning in Lightroom, then I used Color Styler in Color Efex at 50% opacity, Topaz ReStyle at 50%, and Topaz Adjust and Clean at 60%.

I really like the composition here, with the gray clouds framing the dramatic sky. The bit of blue at the top is a nice touch.

I'm wondering if the ripples in the LR are commanding a little too much attention. Have you experimented with smoothing them a little? (You definitely don't want to crop anywhere.)

Wonder if you could reproduce the color effect on a similar shot? I'm never able to get anything close again when I do things like this, which is actually rather nice. (Remember color film?)

Thanks Diane. I haven't tried to remove the ripples from this one but I have tried on others but it never looks "realistic". Any suggestions? I've tried the blur tool and simplify which is no good. I could try painting over it. Or making a selection of all the water and doing some type of blur or Clean.

I doubt I could replicate it exactly on another image but maybe close if I can remember which color set I used in ReStyle out of 1000!

Nice one Judy, strong colors and composition as well as mood and feel. You've touched on something I find frustrating in ReStyle - trying to keep track of which "look" I used.

I love color and this one has lots of it. Nice composition--the clouds, the land, the shadows all seem to be pointing toward the brightest spot in the image--very nice. I agree that the touch of blue is nice. The reds may be a bit too colorful. The ripples on the right don't bother me. Have you tried Surface Blur to tone them down? Those little clouds creating a circle in the right part of the image above the horizon keep drawing my eye and I find them distracting. But this is a little thing, and you may like them. I especially like the sweep of sky and the dark clouds above.

You are becoming a master of these sunsets Judy, this one is nicely composed, with lots of color. Good work

Judy, this is a masterful sunset. I've been procrastinating on ordering ReStyle but I think this will inspire me to get off the fence. I was going to suggest trying surface blur but it looks like Anita already has. I like the image as is - love the colors and the touch of blue is really nice.

Thanks everyone for the thoughtful comments and suggestions. I will try surface blur. Anita, if I removed the clouds I'd have to remove their shadows in the water. I'll give it a shot.

Thanks Cheryl! I like it pretty well. I just used it on another photo that I will post soon. I like it a lot more than I did at first.

Oh, I see what you mean about the shadows. More work than I thought.

Beautiful colors and composition, Judy! Always love your sunset photos. I agree on a little blurring of the ripples.

Love the 3D look and the colours Judy. Would make a stunning canvas print if you could duplicate the colours. I find it hard to get the reds just right.
