I have not posted in Avian for awhile, summer doldrums for birds here and a renewed interest in Landscape,
however I need to keep in practice!

Juvenile Green Heron, I realize this is messy, shadows I don't like etc., but I hardly ever
get close to them and when I see them, this is where they live here...

    Cleaned up a few branches.

Seeing the foot is a real bonus here. The shooting angle seems like it was a good choice. I suppose the light and head angle isn't perfect but that's nature for you.

I like the low angle and the hunting pose which shows typical behavior, but I agree the harsh light and HA plus the rather busy BG worked against you here.

GH is sure a handsome bird

Super low angle and I love the sense of habitat here, Dan. Great view of the foot and sense of stalking which the Green Heron is so good at. I really like the detail and IQ. I suppose the head turned a bit more to the viewer may have been a bit preferable, but still a super image.

Hi Dan, excellent low perspective, and love the intense fishing pose with the raised foot. The heron pops nicely from the surrounding BG, and Im fine with it as is. Did I mention how sharp the heron is.

I am glad to see you back in Avian!
Great low angle and IQ of heron is superb. The raised foot and wavelet of water are very nice.
BG is messy but if it bugged you enough you could easily clone out the OOF branches that intersect with the beak.

I like the stealthy pose, there is enough separation between the bird and surroundings for the bird to stand out. Light was handled well, might tone down the leg in the water. Good look at the back foot.

Superb image of Heron in very nice habitat with apt title.I like the light and shadow effect in the frame.
Love the pose with raised foot, nice colors and details. If mine ,would crop a little bit at the bottom.

    Regards,
    Satish.

I actually love the BG here...great habitat and perfect for the species. Awesome low angle and walking pose too. Nothing you can do about the HA after the fact, but you can tone down the near leg which seems to be quite bright.

Nice hunting pose captured. The environment is good for this species. I also like the raised foot.

This is a nice heron, light and HA have been mentioned so just to add how nice it is when you can get close to a species that has been squitish for one in the past.
