    Here are a couple of American Kestrels enjoying a springtime afternoon.

    They were quite a distance away, so this is a small section of the frame.

    My biggest comp challenge was to optimize the amount of their 'environment' to reveal. So many branches; where to crop?

    Nikon D3, Nikon 600mm with 1.4 TC, 1/3200, F/7.1, ISO 1250.

    Its a pity they are so obscured, having said that thats the way it was. Its a really good frame sharp and colorful
    I like the environment, much better than blanks :-)

    Great song and sharp on the male's face but that's about it :)

    It was a challenging situation and you did what you could...it's not every day you get to see raptors mating. At least they do so early in the season so the small leaves do not obstruct too much...
