I couldn't resist on the title. This fellow was imaged last month early in the am on a foggy, cool morning. I tend towards green backgrounds, but felt the silver worked well here.

D4 600 f/5.0 1/500s ISO 1000 fill flash with better beamer. Pedestal mounted in the bottom of my little boat, Loonie Too!

Post: Slight crop from above, added smidge of canvas on right. Selective sharpening of loon.

Tried several crops, with and without the weak reflection, but because I was going for the silver look, left the reflection in.

Certainly appreciate your thoughts on that point.

    Cheers

    Randy

Mmmmm...this is so nice! the water droplet is a big bonus and I am glad you were able to get the silver colours on water. Sharpe, well exposed and with great details. A bird I would love to see someday!

BeAutiful bird. Love the low shooting angle and the silvery BG. Good sharpness and details. As for the reflection, I wish there is a little more room at the bottom. Loi

Like your choice of crop. Your loon images are just way too good. Water droplet is a bonus on the perfect HA and nice low angle. Sweet image.

    Wow Randy!
I really like the silvery BG. Really highlights the loon. The water drip and water drop add as well.

Hi Randy, this is excellent, perhaps IMHO your best to date, superb work.

Regarding the title, I think you might be showing your age, LOL.

    Love this.

The background and foreground colour match perfectly and really make the Loon stand out. I like the reflection and would have left it in as you have.

    Great picture thanks for sharing.

Hi Randy, love the soft light here, and you have also exposed the loon so well. The droplet under the bill adds interest, as does the fallen one too. The silver foggy BG has really worked out well over the overall image. Well captured.

Great image, Randy. I like the soft light, head turn and the water droplets on the head. The nice looking water makes it for me.

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments, they are much appreciated. I guess I can post some more loons in the future!

The season is just about over, will have one more outing. The adults will be molting, so not so pretty, but the juvis will be fledging, which is always fun, as it is very difficult for them to take off, and there are many false starts.

    Cheers
