I took this picture looking out the broken window of a WWII bunker at Fort Constitution, New Castle, NH.
    18-200mm lens at 25mm, f14, 1/250 sec., ISO 200, hand-held.
Processed in Elements 10: I can't remember all I did, but it included Topaz Adjust >Sketch, and a textures by Distressed Jewel.

Anita they tell me the best way to learn is to critique other peoples. Here goes I find the right hand side distracting and would crop back to the foreground rock otherwise love the mood

I think this is an awesome image, love, love, love the processing. I also think it would be a stronger image if you cropped the right side to the end of the top, big rock. It appears too divided almost in the middle with that much glass.

I like the color and tone, as well as the story that the image tells. I have to agree about the composition, it does feel heavy on the right and I feel that the edge of the broken glass would make a nice framing element.

Many thanks for the comments and suggestions. I agree about the need to crop. Here is a cropped version. I also eliminated the blur on the glass area. Is this an improvement?

Anita, I think this is a much stronger image. Great re-work

Like the re-wor, too, esp removing the blur. don't know if you added the blue tones or if they were part of the original, but they give the feel of the sea just right.

I'm going to go against the grain here. I actually like the original post just as much as the repost. I find the contrast between the sharpness on the left and the blurred glass on the right visually very interesting. In both, I like how the window frames the lighthouse and the muted colors.

My vote is for the original Anita, I think you have captured the desolation and loneliness perfectly. I think the comp is perfect, and it reminds me of a painting by a very talented artist.

Thanks, Jackie. I'm going to put the images side by side and decide which I prefer.
