Finally checked this off my bucket list (not that I won't go back, but so much to see and do in LA).

Canon 5D3, 70-200 f/2.8. Topaz ReStyle. This is one of the few images where I can tell where horizontal and vertical are. I'm lucky I didn't fall over backwards -- spent over an hour walking around looking straight up.

    Diane,

Greetings. I like the overall look & the smooth geometry. I particularly like the color and the contrasting reflective brightness of the lower central structure. The specular bits along the edge of the right-most structure a bit distracting to me, though.

Is there an easy way to describe what Topaz ReStyle does? I frequently use one or more of the tools in their suite but don't have ReStyle.

    Thanks for posting this one.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Thanks, Michael. I should clean up that edge.

ReStyle is a sort of split-toning thing that applies different colors to something like 5 different tonalities. There is a good explanation of it, and a tutorial, on their web site.

It's regularly $60 but you can get it for $30 until the end of August with the discount code "restyleit". You can download a 30 day trial.

Results are not very predictable, for me, but I like the looks I can get and it's not something I want to try to do the hard way. The looks are extremely tuneable.

Diane, I love all the shapes and angles and especially the light shining on the one tower. It looks like a neat building! I've been undecided about ReStyle. They've got webinars posted and there is one this afternoon by Rick Sammons. Hopefully I can make up my mind before the special promo ends

You captured the fascinating shapes and textures of this unusual building.

You did a nice job of capturing the diversity of light, shape, form, and texture of the building. It really is a unique structure, hope you got to look around inside too!

I really like this one, what a cool building. Reminds me of the Experience Music Project in Seattle. I haven't seen photos of this one and didn't know about it. I love the colors, shapes and patterns.

I was a beta tester for ReStyle and I wasn't too impressed and it was buggy. BUT when I demoed the release version I soon found that it worked on a good many images, and of course there were no bugs, so I bought it. It has added a lot to several images I've done.

Thanks, Judy! The EMP building is also a Frank Gehry design.

I wish the presets in ReStyle were organized differently -- say by something like B/W and almost B/W, cool, warm, and wild. The existing organization seems extremely arbitrary. But at least you can choose favorites.

It has been a little buggy for me, but I can live with that and assume it will be tweaked in due time.

I think I would have fallen over too. The shapes and the golden hues/ blue tones make for a very soothing image to me. Though it is quite structured it seems organic to me.
