This looks perfect to me. Love how the colors in the butterfly are similar to those of the grass. 1/15 second must mean the butterfly was not moving. Is that correct? My butterflies seem to flit around.

Yes Anita, the bf was not moving. Shot this early in the morning before the bf warm up and start flying looking for food.

Beautiful Ovidiu, I have only one suggestion, - I would set the flash to somewhere between -0.6 to -1.6 depending upon your flash and subject. The image looks great but it has a slightly "flashed" look about it.

Can't be much better than that. Clean BG, very sharp, great light and colors. A winner!

    Ovidiu:

I like this one a lot, colors, comp, butterfly. I do agree with Jon, just ever so slightly flashed looking.

In my repost, I ran a multiply blend mode layer on the entire image to tone down the highlights a bit.

Fairly subtle, but I thought it helped. Blend mode at 58%.

    Cheers

I see what Jonathan meant by the flash issue. I like Randy's repost a lot!! it made a great photo even greater.

Ovidu, Congrats on a simple, lovely, and dramatically beautiful image. While the original did not look over-flashed to me, I do like Randy's darker overall repost. I do think that the subject could use a bit more sharpening, perhaps a contrast mask on the original file. And a bit more d-o-f to cover the near-antennae would have helped (unless the look was caused by a bit of motion blur).

All in all I love it.

Hi Ovidiu. This one is pretty close to perfect! Love the light, comp, pose, sharpness, and background! If you are tweaking the light, I might prefer something between the original and Randy's repost. Excellent work!
