    Default D800E Cormorant

I know its a pretty common bird but it was taken with my new Nikon D800E. After 2 D800 bodies that wouldn't or couldn't focus well, I'd read that the D800E images were jut a bit sharper, so I traded in the D800 for the E model. Richard Stern and I were crossing a causeway, searching for any few rarities but the tides were against us most of the day. This DC Cormorant, gave us a look. Using my 70-200 with a 1.4 TC at 30-40 feet I quite pleased with the sharpness. Cropped about 50%. Thanks Richard for helping me with the White-rumped Sandpiper and Nelson's Sparrow. With those 2 my Big Year total is, 412 species for the year. p.s. Can anyone tell me why I can't use the enter key to go to a new line???

    Paul:

Sharp and well exposed, nice head angle, like the tail fanned in the water.

I might consider a modest crop from the top to give the impression of a lower shooting angle. The water color isn't fantastic, so wouldn't mind loosing a bit of it with the crop.

The return is working fine for me to go to a new line, not sure what is up with yours. I assume it has worked well in the past?

    Cheers

Go up to the upper right of the page to -SETTINGS-...Open

Look for -General Settings- on the left...Open

Scroll down to...-Message Editor Interface- Uncheck...Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing

The Check...Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls

Hit Save Changes at the bottom Right of page...and that should take care of it. ;)

Paul, I had the same problem. If you click on the first icon (A/A) then you can do it, moving one row down that is.
As far as the picture goes, it is an nice and sharp one, the camera works well.

I think that the image looks plenty sharp. You did have a few things working against you (strong light, bird swimming away from you, and a high angle), but I suspect you will be making many fine photos in the months ahead with your new gear. Looking forward to them.
