Testing the 1DX + 4/600 II for fligh shots. For most situations I would say this is one of the best combos.

EOS 1DX, EF 4/600L IS II, ISO 500, 1/2000, f5.6. About 40% crop of original 18 MP file.

Many people ignore those birds because they are tame and common at the park but they are great for practicing and testing new gear and you can still make good shots of them.

    Hope you like it.

I lighented up the underwings a bit in LR 4.

    Hi Markus,
The IQ of the bird looks good. Very nice light.
I find the pale blue sky BG a bit bland and would add more canvas to the left as I find the comp a bit square for my tastes.
Your PP is good and the underwing lighting looks natural. Have fun practicing with your gear- I practice on gulls here in Nova Scotia.
I would also add a bit of black to the image to give it a bit more punch,
    Gail

I think Gail has provided some really good feedback on this image, Markus. Especially the comp and punch. The good thing is that you've accomplished what you set out to do and that is use the gear to practice and it worked nicely. You'll certainly have more confidence when you are using it for the next "lifer" you come across!

Super sharp and nice light Markus. Glad you got the 1Dx sorted.

Nice light and great details. Good job catching this one. I agreee about bumping up the blacks or the contrast , will give it more depth. Well done

Superb flight pose with very nice HA and wing position. Nice lights, colors and composition.

Hi Markus, the light looks good, and I like the 'gliding' flight pose of the goose. If this were mine, I would add canvas to the LHS.
