The bears' eyes get incredibly intense just before they enter the water on their final dive. I was able to get that intensity on 3 images this year.
This was a very good fishing "sow" a she fed her cubs and then herself quickly, then left the beach to the larger, poorer fishing, boars.

Stan, I don't think I can comment on the technical aspects of this shot but from an aesthetics perspective this is "the money shot". Your timing is right on the mark freezing the action while still maintaining great eye contact with the bear. I like pretty much everything about this photo and can't think of a thing to suggest altering...
Great image and action well captured Stan, colours look great with lovely detail, may be inclined to sharpen the face a little more and to fix the tips of the ears as they look a tad on the hot side to me.
What a frame! Great action and timing. Not viewing on my ideal monitor so will reserve judgement on colour/exposure...Brendon's suggestions make sense.
Congrats on this one - it seems you were also in the water? Great! And then people frown on me for walking around with lions and elephants
Hi Stan - great intensity and timing here. Love the raised claw and the presence of the salmon to balance the rhs with the action on the left. Brendon's suggestions are good ones. The right amount of sharpening for wet fur can be a challenge.
Wonderful action shot that I like as posted. I really like the water splashing that shows motion & the fact that the water did not obstruct her face. VWD.
Thanks for your comments folks, I will try and do some resharpening on the highlights. And yes, sharpening wet fur is difficult, I find myself staring, zooming in, zooming out, and still confused.
Stan
Great capture here, Stan. Love the intense stare and the nint of salmon in the river. Pretty tough to capture the eyes of these bears and you did it well here. I wonder if the water droplets may be a little hot or not. Loi
