EOS 7D, EF 4/600L IS II, ISO 800, f4, 1/200. Gitzo 3540LS + Wimberley II.
Those birds are very common and very tame. Getting a frame filling picture is possible even with a 50mm lens.
I wanted the bird to stand against a green BG (instead of all the buildings around) and shoot it from an interesting angle. I was happy to find some of the yellow flowers next to the geese.
I wish I had been able to bring the 1DX but that is still at the Canon service (5 days after I bought it!). But the 7D is ok at ISO 800.
Did some noise reduction in LR 4 but not much. Some clarity and vibrance increase.
Standard screen sharpening in LR 4 and a little extra sharpening in PS CS 4.
If there is proper technique and no subject movement, the 4/600 II + 1.4x III produce insanely sharp images.
Tomorrow I will leave the 600 at home and bring the 4/200-400 1.4x. A zoom is just more flexible with tame birds.
Hope you like it.

Very Nice,
I like the bokeh and the separation and cleanliness in the BG, The flowers add some color to the image and are beautiful in the frame. The details n the bird itself are great and sharp.
I would have liked to see some more space in front of the bird. Not sure of the Dark Top of the frame. Wolud clean that in the BG if it were mine.
It works for me Markus the darker edge at the top tends to concentrate attention on the bird for me. I like the angle the detail is good it is one of those shots that makes you feel as if you were actually there.
Sharp and nice posture on the Goose, like the comp with the yellow meadow flowers, super smooth backdrop. If it were mine i would crop a little from the top and blend out what's left of the dark band there and maybe then add a little more canvas to the right
A sweet setting for this guy and a nice low angle. And yes the detail is awesome. I would like to see a little more room by the tail but if you have it but not a deal breaker if you dont
Nice image with good sharpness, love the green BG and the flowers in front. I'm with Phil and would suggest to take about 1/2 of the dark band at the top. Loi
