Default Streak-Backed Oriole - Icterus pustulatus

Streak-Backed Oriole taken in Tamarindo Costa Rica. For a week I was trying to photograph this bird and they would never cooperate with me. It was not until the day I was leaving CR this guy put on a song and a show for me to let me and let me create this photograph.

I really enjoy BPN and I truly appreciate all of the comments and feedback.

This photograph was created with a Canon Rebel XT, Canon 100-400 L IS, 580EX and Better Beamer. Info: 400mm @ f/5.6, 1/1000, ISO 400, EV 0

Very nice singing pose and colors. I would prefer a lower angle and a less busy BG. The eye looks a bit overflashed.

    Lovely bird and pose
You could improve image by masking out some of the branches as described on Robert Otoole's APTATS-1

If the noise in BG is from having sharpened the whole image - try using a mask and sharpen only the bird

    Nice job

Such a good bird. I'm sure that shooting in Costa Rica has the upside of good birds....and down side of some difficult shooting conditions. I like that you've gotten him with the open bill. Peter has given some good suggestions on correcting what you have. I would just add that I'd work on the eye to fix the overflashed look and make it look more natural.

    Hi Brian,

Congratulations on catching the image of the bird you were after.
I understand making photos in dense forest is a challenge.

A few adjustments, as suggested, could improve this image :)
