Default Crowned Crane Mother and Chick

This image is of a Crowned Crane Mother and a very young chick. The Mother let the chick wander in the tall grass while she was feeding, but every time the chick ventured a little far, she would run over and keep an eye on the chick. It was difficult to get a good focus on the chick because of the tall grass. This is one of the better images that I captured.

I like the interaction between mom and chick, good details and display of habitat. I wish we could see chick's eye better and the mom was also a bit more angled towards the viewer

The interaction is very apparent and sweet. That is one gorgeous crane species too. I'm sure there were several things beyond your control here....but I do wish your shooting position had been a fair amount more to your left here, which also might have the benefit of not having the bright spiky grass in the background be merging with the parent crane's head.....regardless, this is a sweet safari image, and one you did well to create, given what were probably challenging shooting conditions.

Orientation of the mother was already mentioned. Nice family portrait none the less.

Thank you everyone for your comments. It was my first day on safari and being in the same vehicle with other folks who didn't care about birds, I was a bit shy in asking the guide to move the vehicle. In retrospect, I should have. I removed some of the grass in front of the chick, you can still see the artifacts if look closely, but I think it is better. Loi

This is a nice family portrait Loi. The report is certainly better. Since you made the hard work of clearing the eye view, it would be nice and a lot easier to also remove the two little stems in front of the chick's beak. TFS.
