    Default Drakensberg Sunset

Here's a sunset from our trip to the Southern Drakensberg earlier this year. It was one of those sunsets which held a lot of promise of a colour spectacle, but fizzled out before it got going. I still like the subtle tones here. Anyone spot the horse?

    Hey Morkel,

Not a color spectacle but a beautiful image none the less. The sky is a sublime mix of color and values with the clouds subtly radiating out over the landscape. Everything about this is serene, understated and soothing. Very well done, and nice job on the blending !!
Horse is just above the FG boulder below the skyline.

    A very pleasing image.
I wish you would have got lower and moved a bit to the side to get the horse silhouette against the sky.

I like the subtle colors and the separation you got between the rocks in the FG and the middleground hill. I feel your pain with the sky, most of my trip was a close but no cigar affair when it came to color in the sky. Dan's suggestion would have been pretty cool.

Morkel, I like the subdued colors and the feeling of peace that I get when I view it. (I saw the horse)

Hi Morkel, I really like the subtle tones here...they are well suited to the scene and I also like the diagonal created by the lower left rocks up to the upper right outcrop of rock. Very nice work as usual!

Hi Morkel... beautiful peaceful image... great colour palette... enjoy your angle for the pleasing comp... have to agree the horse on the horizon would have made that extra special... spot on natural pp work... WD Sir!

Thanks again, friends, for your kind feedback. Glad you liked it.
I wish in hindsight that I played with putting the horses on the horizon, but in the field I wanted to but told myself I don't want the big rock jutting "into the sky"...next time perhaps!
