Interesting portrait Stuart. Not sure if you cropped it but it would be nice to put a little more room on the left. If it were mine I'd also sharpen the eyes a bit, at least the catchlights. I like the water in the background and the twitch of the nose. I think I know that bear, did she have some cubs with her this year?
This is a tough one with the highlights on top and dark shadow on the chest. If it were mine, I'd crop some of the top. Agreed with Stan that a little more room on the left would be nice. Loi
Hi Stuart,
like the tight portrait of this big looking guy.
For me there are some issues that could be fixed as follows : color - image has no profile attached so colors look a bit off for my eyes, too saturated on screen.Blacks are a bit too heavy in the real shadows would try to lighten them up.Likewise toning down the highlights in the fur on the head would help to balance the tonality in the subject.
I would also try to sharpen the eyes a bit and if you have a bit more room on the LHS , at least to get the ear fully in the frame.
I like the detail and tones in this one (as well as the contrast).
Andreas' repost has improved overall impact for me. I do find myself wishing to see this in landscape orientation? Do you have any taken that way? Is this full frame?
