I have just returned from an amazing 5 days on the Chobe river. We had an amazing trip with some awesome photography and sighting. The Skimmers are nesting in small colonies at the moment and the first chicks are starting to hatch. This skimmer we photographed early one morning as it was skimming in the backwaters of one of the bays along the river.
Love the relatively calm water and the reflection of the pink sky. The bird is sharp but it is angled slightly away from us. I wish the near wing was more upright.
Fantastic light, nice colours, and good skimming action. If you have more canvas on the pre-cropped original I'd be tempted add a bit back up there (and then both sides to retain the current ratio).
Yes, Brendon ,well captured.Always a pleasure to hunt and capture these magnificent flyers. Awesome light and timing.Yes, would have wished for a slightly better angle.
I don't mind the angle - and I think it's nice that you see the top-side of one wing and the underside of the other. Great light and my only comment would be whether the blacks are a little blocked up - could you raise shadows slider to reduce harsh contrast slightly. Or drop shadows and raise blacks?
Lovely image though - and technically very hard to achieve. Impressed.
