    Default Cape May Warbler

    Attached Images Attached Images

This cape may warbler was photographed this previous spring migration. He and five of his mates were working the maple leaf buds in my small backyard. This was a lucky grab shot out of a second story bathroom window. The oof reddish areas in the background are maple leaf buds. Canon7d, Sigma50/500os, iso800, f9, 1/125, crop, selective NR to the bg, selective USM to the subject and perch. Comments and critiques welcome.
    Regards,
    Shawn Zierman.

Wonderful species, nicely photographed. I like how you handled the large perch. BG is beautiful. Wish my grab shots were half as good as this!

Amazing opportunity and amazing shot of this species, Shawn. I have been going to Point Peele for fifteen years give or take and
I have never seen one low. Always in the top of the trees.

Awesome colours and details. Neat perch too, and the bit of yellow-lime moss on it is a neat colour bonus. The comp is not centered at all (there much more room in front of the bill than behind the tail) but I could see a version more canvas left and top.

    This is wonderful Shawn,
I really like the IQ and your DOF.
Nice clean BG ( which is so hard with these little guys).
The perch has been perfectly cropped for size and keeping the diagonal line,
    Gail
PS I, too, shoot a lot from my upstairs bathroom window!

Stunning warbler shot, Shawn. I'm really jealous. This is a species I hardly ever see (despite their name they're not all that common in New Jersey); and never, never at eye level. Beautifully captured with great, clean bg. Given the size of the perch I might have been tempted to cut just a tad off the bottom and add to the top, but I'd take this in a heartbeat.
