    Default Arctic Fox pup

It's been an incredible 3 months working in the Tundra and being so close to true wildness at all times. I've been watching these pups grow up from a distance, but this guy decided to finally break the ice. He stopped playing with his brothers to come check me out.

Almost no post except bumping up the shadows a bit, some sharpening and a little NR.

I probably took 30 pictures, and although I'm not sure if this is my favourite, it will have to do for now!

Must have been one heck of a working trip Erik and it's nice to see someone else from these shores on here producing some fine results. IQ looks great from the 7D and not sure how this would look with a very slight lift of the shadows on the right eye? Just a pinch. TFS buddy!

Lovely low angle, soft light and inquisitive pose here, Erik!
I wonder if you have a sliver more space at the bottom? Feels a bit "squeezed" there if you get my drift?
I think you can lift the shaded part of the face some as per Jamie, and I would also add a hint of midtone contrast just to the fox (using a mask).
Would love to see more of your photos on here, and perhaps some of your comments/suggestions on other posts...

Jamie: It has been an amazing working trip. I arrived in Rankin Inlet NU in May and will be here till the end of August. Rankin isn't incredibly far North, but it's above the tree line and is home to some beautiful Tundra and the wildlife that comes with it. I pushed the shadows a little bit, but to be honest, I didn't work on this image very much. I think you're probably right about the right side of the face/eye. Thanks for the comment!

Morkel: This pup was incredibly curious and got so close at one point I couldn't focus on him. This image isn't cropped at all, so unless I do some serious cloning to get more room, it's not possible! I'm definitely looking forward to getting more time (and more importantly, a better internet connection) to go through more posts here. From what I can tell so far, this forum is saturated with some amazing skills! Thanks for the comment.

Your life above the tree line sounds better than mine buddy as I comment from a 9th floor office desk :). Glad my comments were of some use for you and extending the canvass on the bottom would be easy considering the shallow DOF. Less detail to extend so less sign of editing. Check out this link if you use PS http://www.richardpeters.co.uk/blog/...vas-extension/ Doesn't get any easier to follow than that. Here is a quick repost top give you an idea. Extended the canvass a touch, dodged the eye to make it a little lighter (a quick way but not necessarily the best way of bringing out detail), and burned the white lightly on the lhs. Hope you don't mind me playing with this.
