    Default Kalahari Cloud Formation

I don't normally frequent the landscape forum, though this is an image I found in the archives from 2007.

A very interesting cloud formation over the Selinda Reserve, Botswana - PP wise, some luminosity painting, tonal contrast and some colour correction.

Now THAT is a cloud formation. Amazing and incredible -- effective presentation for the drama that fits the subject. Looks like Midwestern tornado season in the US. I hope no one was hurt...

    Awesome bit of weather!
Exposure looks perfect on the clouds. I wish you would turned the lens to vertical, I
would love to see what is underneath this......

Now that is spectacular and dramtic... great detail and exposure and good depth... is this a blend?
Agree... curious to know what is underneath?

Awesome formation and love the light/colour play on this. Seems unreal but I too have seen skies like this over Botswana...
What as the foreground here in terms of landscape? Did you take more than just the sky?

Stunning cloud formation, love the detail and colours. Although a bit of landscape at the bottom would have been nice, I do like your tighter composition, works for me.

Thanks all, this is probably as good as it gets. When I get home, I will try to post a wider image. It was quite strange I this was the only cloud lit up - the foreground is pretty boring. I can't remember if it was after sunset and just illuminated due to Botswana's flatness....I do know we were sitting with lions when I took this frame.

Hi Jason, this is not a blend, though I deliberately held off on the contrast in the RAW conversion, and used dodge/burn layers to get this effect.

Love the clouds...very dramatic. I see you had no FG to speak of.....so you did well with what you had!

A very powerful cloud scape. Light is very well handled with a sky only composition. Great drama.
