I can count on one finger how many Ruddy Turnstones in breeding plumage during fall migration I've seen (I see juveniles every year)...and here it is. It was quite flighty too, compared to what I've encountered before...barely allowed me to take this image as it was very nervous, looked at me and then fled after two more actuations.
Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, significantly darkened the blacks and upped the saturation more than usual (the image had a washed-out look due to hazy conditions), cloned out an ugly piece of goose doo-doo on top of the rock. Small crop for comp, but I have also created a pano version with the water at bottom plus about 30-40% of the thickness of the perch cropped out.
